Much of the talk on the Streetsblog Network has been about the stimulus package that goes before the House of Representatives today, as members mobilize their readers in support of Rep. Jerry Nadler's amendment adding money for transit.

hiawatha.jpgMore of this, please.

One interesting stimulus-related note is on Gristmill, where David Roberts cites poll numbers that show support for infrastructure spending is nearly universal, among conservatives and liberals alike. Roberts wonders why, then, so much ground has been given up to tax cuts in the recovery package:

This demonstrates yet another reason why Obama's attempt to appease conservatives by bumping transit infrastructure investments to make room for tax cuts is pointless. The people want infrastructure, they want stimulus, and those two happen to be the same thing, so who gives a f*ck what Republicans want?

There's more outrage out there as well, not all of it stimulus-related. Tucson Bike Lawyer writes about a shocking case of flagrant red-light running that resulted in a fatal crash — and was "not considered reckless behavior" by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. And Switchback derides the "sterile and uninviting" design that's shaping up on the Boston waterfront.
