Dorothy Walker is a retired planner and former Assistant Vice Chancellor - Property Development at University of California, Berkeley. She was the founding president of the American Planning Association and the president of one of its two predecessor organizations, the American Society of Planning Officials. She is a long time resident of Berkeley, where she served on many different commissions and committees addressing fundamental issues, including desegregating public schools, traffic and circulation innovations, housing and development, and downtown revitalization.
