World’s Most Entitled Driver Sentenced to Wear “Idiot” Sign

Need a break from election coverage? Check out this shoo-in for the bad driver hall of fame: In an attempt to avoid waiting behind a school bus unloading children, a Cleveland-area woman was caught driving on the sidewalk.

But after some unorthodox punishment, handed down by a local judge, we’re guessing 32-year-old Shena Hardin won’t try that trick again. Hardin has been ordered to stand at an intersection two mornings next week wearing a sign that says, “Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.”

She will also have her license suspended for 30 days and pay $250, according to the Associated Press.

She apparently did this on a regular basis, which is why the camera and the cops were ready and waiting. And her license is going to be suspended for *only* 30 days?! She should never drive again. Whatever happened to driving being a privilege rather than a right? Obviously her privileges should be permanently revoked.

@b658b96be8714989bb35623919df784c:disqus Agreed.  A person can live without food for 30 days, she can easily live without a license for 30, without any deep introspection or meaningful change in her life.  I’d say at least 1 year loss of license, better 5 years.  Lifetime loss… Oh to dream.

  • Joe R.

I agree that she should never drive again. Driving on a sidewalk is bad enough, but driving on one likely to have children exiting a school bus shows total disregard for life.

  • Probably the type of person who will drive with a suspended license.

  • Adam Anon

Yup. People like that clearly don’t belong behind a wheel since they have zero respect for other people’s safety and the law. She should have her license revoked for life and if caught driving, a year in prison should straighten her out.

  • Two days holding a sign and a 30 day suspension for driving on the sidewalk??  Hahahahahahaha – why didn’t the judge just give her a case of beer.  Talk about a slap on the wrist.  What would it have taken to merit a serious punishment – dead bodies strewn all over? This so called unorthodox punishment is less than a slap on the wrist.

I wonder how big the sign she will be wearing?

  • Roadblock

This is a GREAT punishment! People SHOULD make sure to get out there and make films and photos of this inconsiderate selfish asshole so she can be a meme on the internet for another 6 months. so there you have it. SHAMED!

  • Clarke

The sign should say “I am attempted child murderer.”

  • Have you seen how nutso the gas-guzzling throwbacks are acting after Sandy took their crack – sorry, I mean gas – away for a paltry 7 days?   She’ll be a gibbering jellyfish after 30 days…

  • Zoehare

Hahaha! That’s the difference between being tempted and actually doing something that is unbelivably stupid!

  • Zoehare

If that’s true than yes, I’ll agree the punishment was most lenient and the offense pretty serious. Loss of liscence for a year and huge fine $5.000 min. She should feel the pain.

We have to remember that most of the “people in power”, in most parts of the US, whether council members, legislators or judges, are motor vehicle users, and would look upon having their licenses suspended or revoked and/or having their cars impounded as (to quote from a comment on another driver) equivalent to being “under house arrest”.  Taking a bus or riding a bike may not even cross their minds as alternatives to driving.
